Supervision

Supervision

Supervision plays a vital role in supporting safe, effective and high-quality clinical work, while also creating space for reflection, development and practitioner wellbeing.

I offer ACT informed supervision to mental health professionals, with a particular interest in supporting those who are newer to this approach or looking to develop greater confidence and flexibility in their work. I currently supervise psychologists, therapists and other mental health professionals working across a range of settings.

My approach to supervision is grounded in curiosity, connection and collaboration. Alongside developing clinical skills, I focus on helping practitioners notice what is happening in the room, both for their clients and themselves, and to respond in ways that are more flexible, effective and aligned with their values.

In supervision, I’m interested in what is happening just beneath the surface of the work, for example, those moments where things feel stuck, uncertain or difficult to articulate. These are often the places where the most useful learning can happen. Creating space to notice and work with these experiences is an important part of the process.

Drawing on the SHAPE framework (Morris & Bilich-Eric, 2017) and the SEED model of ACT supervision (Bradley & Lucas, 2023), supervision typically includes:
  • Developing competencies through deliberate practice and guided reflection.
  • Exploring the context and function of behaviour to support clinical decision-making.
  • Working with common challenges such as feeling stuck, uncertain or self-critical.
  • Using experiential methods to deepen understanding and support learning.

I have completed the West Midlands Clinical Psychology Supervisor Training and Recognition (STAR) Programme, additional training as part of the BPS Approved Certificate in Supervision, and specialist training in ACT supervision.

Supervision sessions are available face to face in Newcastle-under-Lyme or online via Zoom.

If you are interested in supervision, you are very welcome to get in touch to discuss whether this would be a good fit.
